Sanz calls off his Venezuela’s concert for Chavez ‘critics’ - 2007-10-18
Alejandro Sanz has been blocked from performing at a stadium in Venezuela because he criticized President Hugo Chavez three years ago, reports the Associated Press. Higher Education Minister Luis Acuna announced in Union Radio that the Spanish singer would not be allowed to use the Poliedro stadium, , which is administered by the state , for his show scheduled for Nov. 1. "If an artist comes to Venezuela to rail against Chavez, against movement, how do you think the people of this country would respond if he were to be allowed to use" the stadium, Acuna said in the interview. But Sans is permitted to use a private location. In 2004 Sanz was in Venezuela for concert and when asked about a referendum on Chavez's presidency, he replied, "I don't like your president."

Alejandro Sanz is said to have proposed to his former assitant now girlfriend Raquel Pereda. The artist and the brunette has a relationship since last year (2006). According to Spanish magazine Hola!, Sanz proposed to Pereda on the Balearic island of Mallorca at the beginning of August. He is divorced from Jaydy Mitchell with whom he had one chid.

The singer was going to hit perform in the Dodge Arena in Hidalgo on June 22, but he rescheduled “El Tren de los Momentos” tour for November 27 and early next year (08). Sanz decided to change the dates after doctors’ advice to take “absolute rest,” said his spokesperson.
